Volume 1 - Hovertravel - The
First 35 Years
The full story of the longest running hovercraft
company in the world
(Running time
approx 30 minutes)
Hovertravel began operations in 1965
and by the millennium had 35 years of service world-wide. Not least on the
Solent route which has run ever since the early
pioneer days of hovercraft.
This video traces the story, from the invention of the hovercraft and how it
works, to the modern day up-rated diesel craft launched in 1999, capable of 65
knots, crossing the Solent in under 10 minutes.
World-wide activities from Canada to the Amazon are covered with some
spectacular rare footage of rapids and swamps, the unique activities of
Hovertravel and its charter operations with Hoverwork, in all countries and
terrain, land, water and ice.
